Tomorrow is May. It's freezing and snowing outside, this is not okay.
The combination of that and studying for finals
is making me so depressed.

BUT,

The good news is: my last final is on Monday
(which means I'll officially be half-way done with nursing school!)

AND,

We (i.e. Tim and I, his parents, Brian and Annelise & their three cute kids) leave to go to the
Happiest Place on Earth,
bright and early Tuesday morning, for 3 days!


Cannot wait.

Thoughts for the day

Today in clinical I had a patient who was cranky, short-tempered,
and not so pleased with us...and wasn't afraid to express it.
Usually when this happens, you can take it as an indicator
of what the rest of the day will be like with them.
And it's so easy to put a label on someone after something
like that happens, and you can't help but dread going into their room.

But today, we [the other nursing student and I] really tried to
practice patience and empathy with her.
We were extra kind and did anything we could
to help her and make her more comfortable.

By the end of our shift, she was calling us sweethearts
and apologized for being snappy earlier.
I know its nothing that significant, but it really made my day,
and really reaffirmed that the little things can make a big difference.
[and also, that nursing is something I still want to do hehe]

Last weekend, our friends, Nick and Lindsay,

threw a Christmas party at the Old Meeting House.

Santa Claus was even there for everyone to get

their picture taken! There was a yummy dinner,

lots of dancing, and good friends.

It was a fun night and we had a great time!

One more final to go,

and then I finally get to relax

and enjoy the

holiday season!

away from finishing my first semester of nursing school,

starting a much-needed Christmas break,

...oh and moving...

in a long time.

Nurse

I know everyone says enjoy college while

you can because once you graduate, it's on

to the real world. But as I spend a majority of my

days studying this summer, I can't help but

hope for the days when I will be done.

No more:

3 inch textbooks,

staying up all night making flashcards,

spending 6 hours at a time in the library,

7:30 am classes...

I'll finally be doing

something I love...and making money. Being

a poor college student is getting old.

I start nursing school at the U this fall and

couldn't be happier. I feel like I'm finally turning

a corner and am one step closer to reaching my goal.

Even though it's going to be difficult and trying at times,

it's going to be so exciting.

I want to be a neonatal/maternity/labor&delivery nurse.

I just love babies and would love to get

to work with them all the time.

I mean, look at this little guy.

How could I not?

So until then... more books, flashcards, and tests.
